A monumental landmark on the San Antonio skyline, the Tower Life Building’s original design involved copper metal panels on its exterior and a large lantern and flagpole crowning the building. After a period of green clay tile on the roof, which American Roofing & Metal also installed, our company was selected to restore the building to its historical splendor.
American Roofing & Metal restored and installed new copper metal panels on the existing lantern, which then was expanded to enclose the base per the historical flag pole design. American Roofing & Metal constructed the entire expansion on ground level in the metal shop, dismantled the pieces, and then reassembled on top of the building.
Throughout the re-roofing and restoration project, the Tower Life Building remained open for business. The logistics of material transportation through the building to the roof were carefully coordinated with the building owner, general contractor and architect to ensure a successful project—without impacting business inside.
The roofing project was accomplished with a sophisticated scaffolding system, which allowed employees to safely accomplish the job without incident or violation.
"The extent of their knowledge, skill and precision was exemplified when they reconstructed from scratch the 1929 ornamental copper cupola that now adorns the top of the Tower Life Building. This amazing restoration helped return an iconic national landmark to its original grandeur in the skyline of downtown San Antonio." -Owner of the Tower Life Building
